God Has Put Eternity in Our Hearts



Ecclesiastes 3:11 English Standard Version (ESV)

11 He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also, he has put eternity into man's heart, yet so that he cannot find out what God has done from the beginning to the end. 

Do you feel distracted by the many things that come at you in life?  Is it hard to stay focused on what is truly important?  Many people look for lives that hold some meaning.  I recently had a conversation with some fellow believers over the endless pursuit for happiness.  The reason it is called a "pursuit" is that it is an action of following someone or something.  The destination for me is not "happiness" because that is a feeling.  Feelings are fleeting.  
In this life, we will know seasons, as I write it is early November so we are experiencing beautiful fall foliage.  Although the trees are beautiful now, soon the trees will be bear.

Our lives are composed of Seasons according to Ecclesiastes chapter 3:
birth and death, 
planting and harvesting, 
sickness and health,
tearing down and building up, 
weeping and laughter,
sadness and happiness, 
throwing things away and gathering things together, 
embracing and withdrawing, 
seeking and losing, 
tearing and sewing, 
silence and speech, 
love and hate, 
war and peace.  
If we keep our hearts, minds, soul, and strength focused on God's plan we can live through each season with purpose.  Whatever season you find yourself in today, focus-on-eternity!

How Do We Restore Spiritual Health in Another Without Being Judgmental

       One of the primary focuses inside a small group setting is to love one another. As a small group leader, I try to foster an environment where people feel open to express themselves. With many years in this role, it seems as though spiritual warfare is at an all-time high. The trials and tribulations of those we’re called to love seem to be escalating. Promoting vertical vision is the solution. But it can also be the biggest challenge in a conversational setting. Galatians 6:1-3 directs our thoughts on how to conduct ourselves in a small group environment. It says, “Brethren, even if anyone is caught in any trespass, you who are spiritual, restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness; each one looking to yourself so that you too will not be tempted. What's My Motivation?

      As I read Scriptures, I am always trying to ascertain a personal application, and this morning my understanding was drawn to motivation.   In John 5:41-45, we read the passage where Jesus is talking to the Pharisees when he says, “ I do not receive glory from people .   But I know that you do not have the love of God within you.   I have come in my Father’s name, and you do not receive me. If another comes in his own name, you will receive him.   How can you believe, when you receive glory from one another and do not seek the glory that comes from the only God? Do not think that I will accuse you to the Father.
